Overlaps will be to ensure that sufficient hand-over is carried out or to facilitate final training. Both persons will be on normal contracts and will be alone in the position before and after the overlap period.

Extra crew happens when work-load demands to double up the manning in certain positions. The extra crew will normally be there for a period and then return or go to another vessel. But the extra crew may relieve the person holding the position.

 
For these situations we want to be able to track:

• Overlap on each vessel
  • How many days of overlap we have in a defined period
    
  • Average number of overlap days we have for each position in a defined period
    
  • Minimum number of overlap days we have for each position in a defined period  
    
• Extra crew on each vessel
  • How many days of overlap we have in a defined period
